His Glorious Appearing

A glimpse into the eternal realm of the first heaven!
Limited Edition Giclee Canvas Print
By David Magiera

Magiera works in a style of impressionism that is uniquely his own. His work is intuitively free and uninhibited in composition and rich in color. He weaves form, fluidity and motion with extraordinary balance and harmony. His Scripture-themed images are replete with symbolism and empowered with emotion.

"And I saw the seven angels which stand before God; and to them were given seven trumpets."

STORY AND SYMBOLISM

Just about 30 years ago, I was experiencing a most extraordinary conversion experience. Upon surrendering my life and heart to Jesus, I was overwhelmed with His love and compassion and was supernaturally filled to over-flow with His Holy Spirit. The joy was beyond description and greater than any pleasure I had ever, and ever since, experienced. An indwelling of the Savior and His Holy Spirit that remained upon and within me for over six months!

During this time I was compelled to create an image of His face in a silhouette line drawing. It took me months and 100 hours of sketching, enhancing, studying and revising before I could say to myself that it truly captured the power of His loving eyes and majesty. Every single millimeter of line was evaluate for its correctness. I was consumed with satisfying my desire to share in an artistic way the incredible love and mercy and forgiveness I had been given. The crown of thorns which appear above His brow and the subtle drops of blood falling from the edge of His eyebrow are deliberate and a reminder of His suffering. But more than His suffering, the image evokes His majesty and compassion in the light of His awesome sacrifice. I invite you to stare into His eyes and feel the love that exudes from these lines of art.

Combined with the drawing of Jesus are seven angels which are blowing the shofar. These are repeated and reversed photo images of the sculpture I completed in 1998. They were first created showing uplifting hands depicting Psalm 91:11,12 "For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."

In 2004 I was compelled to begin blowing the shofar each morning as a testament of God's promises in the Old and New Testament. In 2005 I saw the angels I had sculpted, now captured in the print, blowing the shofar. They were in fact depicting the vision John saw in heaven from Rev. 8:2 "And I saw the seven angels which stand before God; and to them were given seven trumpets."

They, of course, are part of the judgements of God which are coming upon the earth in these last days. It was also at this time that I recalled my 2005 study of the images from the Hubble telescope. You can see for yourself at (http://www.Hubblesite.org/gallery). Click on the link above and then click on PICTURE ALBUM and then NEBULAE . . . you will see God's incredible painting in the heavens using brush strokes of billions stars and galaxies! With the addition of the shofar all the elements began to coalesce. The stars were captured from the homepage image I had created for Bride of Christ Ministries website. (BrideofChrist.com)

The celestial environment in which all this is set was created entirely from photo texturizing. But the seeds for its final look were planted in my brain during my study of the Hubble images. The final step in the process was color-posturizing the angels giving them the appearance of transparency -- a visual signature of the spiritual atmosphere of heaven. I pray you will enjoy the work as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

THE PROCESS

After finishing "His Glorious Appearing." I realized that at least ten creative disciplines - and thirty years of accumulative inspiration -- were involved in reaching this amazing image. These are the ones I remember: pen & ink silhouette drawing of Jesus; sculpting the original image of the angels lifting holy hands; painting and gold burnishing of their body and wings; shooting photography of finished angels (left and right face) and my shofar; cloud photography taken 5,000 feet above the mountains of Guatemala; scanning image of Jesus, clouds and photograph of angels; digital photo layering and composition; digital star creation; digital color enhancing and color posturizing; and finally, photo palate texturing creating the depth and affect of a glorious distant galaxy.

What make a Giclee print by Magiera valuable?

A giclee (gee-clay) canvas print, by any definition, is an exquisite reproduction of original art on stretched canvas. It is as close to an original as you can get. The brilliantly rich colors are captured in their full intensity and depth. The inspired symbolism, combined with the artists' sensitivity to form, figure and emotion of expression, create a thought-provoking and timeless image on canvas. But Magiera's giclee canvas prints are even more evocative because of their texture and brush strokes. After the original painting has been transfered to canvas, Magiera then personally adds his brush strokes in clear acrylic adding originality, texture and depth to the entire canvas.
